YOLO!!

"Everyone has two lives, the second one starts when they realise they have only one" - Confucius

Let me elaborate -

Suppose you are preparing for an exam, you have two months to prepare for it. You plan everything, you dissect the syllabus, clearly set goals for the following 8 weeks.

1st day you were supposed to study chapters 1,2 and 3. But you only covered two chapters - maybe you didn't feel like studying, got busy with some other work. It's ok, no need to feel bad, you still have 59 days till exam, you can cover.

2nd day - you did good.
Covered the 3rd chapter and also the day's part.

3rd day - you did even better, covered the day's part, and even more. So you started the next day's work too...

Days went by, the exam date arrived, and you failed.
You go home feeling sad.
You wake up next morning, and plan to pass the exam next semister. And you did! Congratulations!!

Let me paint you another scenario -

You and your friends plan to go to Goa on a trip!
Yes, i know you planned! Most of us do!
Did you go? No?
Don't feel bad, maybe after you got a decent job, you can go. Or maybe after marriage.
Or maybe after you have kids,
Or maybe after retirement.

There is an after. There is a maybe next time.

What if there wasn't?
What if you only get one shot at your exam?
What if you only get one chance to go to Goa?

What if life was your only chance?
That's it!!
Do you have any memories of things/events before you were born? So what if it's same after death?
There is no next, there is no maybe.
It is comfortable to believe there will be another chance.
Almost all religions have something comforting you that there is another chance.
Heaven, Reincarnation and so on.

What if there is only one chance, that you get, and that's it. You die!
There is no you, no more.
Yes, people may mourn for you, people may miss you, some may celebrate! All for sometime, then they forget eventually.
But for you that's it! No more balls to play, no more next innings, no more next semister, no more next time.

So how are you doing?
Happy? Surviving? Struggling? Any regrets?

YOLO my friend!!
Have a great time.

God and death 💀

Below events are not dramatized in any kind! "............God could have helped it, I don't know why he didn't!...." It was a pretty normal day for me! I was busy doing my thing, when suddenly mom came into my room tears rolling down her eyes, and broke the news to me! A very dear member of our large family passed away! It was so sudden, and unexpected that I couldn't think of anything to say! It was a road accident! And nothing could be done! While talking about this incident a fine gentleman said "God could've helped, I don't why he didn't".  I actually liked the question and inquired further,  " so why didn't he?" "It's not like only ( a particular religion) people die, others die too, everyday, from many different causes!" "But that doesn't answer the question why didn't God help" "Having hope helps, believing in God helps" "that still doesn't answer the question" ...

Some thoughts on Religion

1) genesis, creation - the beginning : what about the beginning of the universe? If god wanted just to create earth then why all the universe? Is there no life any where out in the universe? Do they also have the same god? Are they wrong or are we? If life is intelligently designed.then why is there lots of vacuum or emptiness in space? It only points out to wasteful or bad design 2/3 of the earth is covered in water, and we can't live there. Humans are not the strongest beings, nor the biggest! We get infected by the smallest of organisms! What of all this points to an intelligent design?  2) there are so many religions. Are all true? Or all false?  Can your's be false? If all are true then are there many gods? This is where Pascal's wager doesn't make sense! [Pascal's wager  is an argument in philosophy presented by the seventeenth-century French  philosopher ,  mathematician  and  physicist ,  Blaise Pascal  (1623–1662). [1] ...
