Since the time i became an atheist, a few years ago, i avoid going to Christian marriages mostly. But as i come from a Christian family, some marriages are hard to avoid, ( bride or groom is a cousin or a good friend of mine).
The same problem is present in all religions, but is brought out in various occasions. In Christianity, it's mostly marriage time.
The pastor or the speaker gets on stage and talks for an hour, how and why the bride has to be submissive in everything to the groom. I don't know how girls go through this, sitting on stage, may be one of most important days of their lives, dressed in their best, and then thrown down, with words coming from an unknown man, telling her whatever you're attained in life, you're still below your husband. And they can't do anything, because the only thing that gives these idiots legitimacy (in religion) to talk anything they like and, make others fear to talk against it is "a book". No one knows who wrote it, except those as claimed by the religious. One book, which is translated daily by thousands as they like and as they believe, but still cling on to the ideals of centuries old, only because another idiot said so in a book.
I'm here sitting outside the church, writing this, facepalming myself, where still the bride is being told how she should have her head low and obey her husband!!
