Why do we celebrate Days

What does a day or a date mean? Does it have a physical value or emotional value? According to astronomy, a day means a rotation of the earth around its own axis, and a revolution means a time taken by the earth to move around the sun. So a particular date in a year shows that the earth is at that point in space.
We mark these days as Independence day, christmas, new year, the month of ramadan etc. My problem is not with the dates, but with the memories, the rituals, the practices associated with these dates. India gained it's Independence or rather declared as Independent on Aug 15, 1947. That was a event that took place on that day in that year, it doesn't take place every year. We don't have to win our Independence every year, we are independent since August 15, 1947. But why does our patriotism only come out on that day? We wave flags, we sing our national anthem, we say " meta Bharath mahaan" only on that day and the very next day revert back to our self centred lives, back to putting our own interests ahead of the common good. Likewise in the month of December every Christian becomes a very good citizen helping their fellow human beings, sharing cakes, singing songs. But Christ didn't born in 2014 or 2015, nor does he takes birth every year. He has born. The event took place in the past, so why can't people share the same happiness every day of the year? Having a birthday today means that you're born when the earth was at the same place ( your age ) years ago. That doesn't mean that you have to celebrate it again when the earth is in the same place. You are born. You can share your happiness when ever you feel like sharing or when ever you feel like you have enough money.
All I'm trying to say is why can't stay the same throughout the year, why do we have to be a patriot on August 15th , why a Christian on December 25th.

I'm not saying that dates are not important, I'm saying that we don't have to be that person on that date. Dates are important as they provide landmarks in history, we can remember and cherish the memories on that day but we ended up being people who have to show their patriotism on aug 15th.

I wrote this for christmas as I'm from a Christian family not because I have anything against them or anybody.

God and death 💀

Below events are not dramatized in any kind! "............God could have helped it, I don't know why he didn't!...." It was a pretty normal day for me! I was busy doing my thing, when suddenly mom came into my room tears rolling down her eyes, and broke the news to me! A very dear member of our large family passed away! It was so sudden, and unexpected that I couldn't think of anything to say! It was a road accident! And nothing could be done! While talking about this incident a fine gentleman said "God could've helped, I don't why he didn't".  I actually liked the question and inquired further,  " so why didn't he?" "It's not like only ( a particular religion) people die, others die too, everyday, from many different causes!" "But that doesn't answer the question why didn't God help" "Having hope helps, believing in God helps" "that still doesn't answer the question" ...

Some thoughts on Religion

1) genesis, creation - the beginning : what about the beginning of the universe? If god wanted just to create earth then why all the universe? Is there no life any where out in the universe? Do they also have the same god? Are they wrong or are we? If life is intelligently designed.then why is there lots of vacuum or emptiness in space? It only points out to wasteful or bad design 2/3 of the earth is covered in water, and we can't live there. Humans are not the strongest beings, nor the biggest! We get infected by the smallest of organisms! What of all this points to an intelligent design?  2) there are so many religions. Are all true? Or all false?  Can your's be false? If all are true then are there many gods? This is where Pascal's wager doesn't make sense! [Pascal's wager  is an argument in philosophy presented by the seventeenth-century French  philosopher ,  mathematician  and  physicist ,  Blaise Pascal  (1623–1662). [1] ...
